Summer is around the corner and if you're looking for summer events to participate in, MCCS has several coming up. From fitness events, workshops, and events full of giveaways, we've curated a list of summer events you shouldn't miss. Get ready to mark your calendars and save these dates!
SD MOM's Food Distribution on June 8, July 13, and August 10
San Diego MOM conducts a food distribution with the Family Advocacy Program, providing free food bags for military families every 2nd Thursday of the month at the Bob Hope Theater! Please note that this event is while supplies last and is first come, first served.
10 Steps to a Federal Job on May 17, June 14, July 12, and August 23
The Transition Readiness program hosts this workshop to help authorized patrons navigate through USAJobs and write effective federal resumes. This course takes place in The Hub, located in building 5305 each month from 8:00am-10:00am. To register, visit TRS's

Barracks Bash on May 17
Open to active duty Marines and Sailors, this event will take place from 12:00pm-4:00pm on Wednesday, May 17 in the parking lot of the Great Escape. There will be free food, food trucks, (3) $500 gift card giveaways, and games!
Stronger Warrior Field Meet on May 26
Join us at the Miramar Sports Complex Track and Field on May 26 from 7:30am-12:00pm for field day team events! If you’re registering as a unit, call (858) 307-1945/8863 by May 22. There is a minimum of 10 Marines per team.
Memorial Day Hike on May 29
Mark your calendar for May 29th! Join MCAS Miramar’s F45 team in honoring our fallen servicemembers and help raise awareness of the current issues facing our military and veterans, including PTSD, suicide and hunger.
Who: ANYONE can join. No need to be an F45 Member
What: 4.5-mile hike/food donations/monetary donations
When: May 29, 2023, at 10:00am
Where: Start/Finish at the Denny's parking lot on base
Why: To honor our fallen servicemembers and raise awareness for PTSD, suicide, and hunger
How: Scan the QR code and join the F45 MCAS Miramar team
-No entry fee required to participate but F45 will be taking monetary/food donations on site
-Bring 25+ pounds of non-perishable canned/dry goods in your pack to donate at the finish line
-Monetary donations online through QR code
-Prizes will be given to the top 3 studios who raise the most money, collect the most food AND there will be prizes to the top 3 individuals who raise the most money. Please share to anyone you feel would be interested in joining our cause.

Summer Reading Program from June 12-July 28
The Summer Reading Program is a 7-week program hosted by Miramar Station Library that includes a reading challenge and 8 special events which will occur on Thursdays at 2:00pm during the duration of the challenge.
Challenge Information
There are 4 age groups within the challenge: PreReader, Kids, Teens and General (Adult). Prospective participants can register on Beanstack on June 1 and participants can start logging reading minutes on June 12 when the program starts. To complete the challenge, readers need to read 910 minutes, which is 130 minutes per week. As readers log their minutes, they earn prizes, which they can come into the library to claim. The community reading goal is 200,500 minutes.
Summer Reading Program: Challenge Setup
To register and enter the challenge, you only need to set up an account through a browser. To set up a Beanstack account, you can visit
https://miramarstationlibrary.beanstack.org. Participants should create an account as a new user even if they participated previously, and they should create an account through a browser. Then, they can download the app from an app store. Once this is downloaded, click “find your school or library.” Search for “MCAS Miramar.” Use existing username and password you created online to login. People participating in the program can tag the Miramar Station Library at #mcasmiramarSRP2023 on Instagram.
EFMP 2023 Sunny Series
Join us for six weeks of recreation focused on the arts, fitness, and nutrition! Each month this summer will have its own focus. Here is the outline of what the summer will look like:

F45 Summer Playoffs on Saturday, June 10 from 11:00am-1:00pm
The Summer F45 Playoffs are taking place on June 10 from 11:00am-1:00pm. There will be 10 events, 10 minutes long with 45 seconds for each movement. There will be 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners.
Shape up For the Summer Challenge from June 20-August 31
Are you a member of F45 or Group Exercise? Starting June 20-August 31, you can sign up for the Shape Up for Summer Challenge, which is a class attendance challenge! All members are in the running for prizes based on their class attendance!

Babysitting Certification Course on June 20-22
This 3-day certification course is for teens from 6th-12th grade that will take place from 9:00am-3:00pm, offered by Marine and Family programs. This course will cover health and nutrition, CPR and First Aid, caring for children with special needs, supervision strategies, games, activities, and more. For more information, contact

Wings over Miramar Flight Line 5K on June 24
Sign up for the Wings Over Miramar Flight Line 5K on June 24 and you will have the chance to run or walk on the same runway that hosts the Blue Angels and other top aircraft performers. With medals for top finishers, static aircraft displays, and post-race festivities, this is one event you will not want to miss.

Mini Marine Boot Camp Challenge On June 28
Join Marine Corps Family Team Building for the Mini Marine Boot Camp Challenge. Taking place at the Youth Sports Fields from 4:00-6:00pm, children between 5-17 (as of the day of the event) are invited to complete a mini CFT and obstacle course, qualify on the NERF range, learn MCMAP, and finish a motivation run. The first 50 registrants will receive a Mini Marine T-Shirt! To register you can visit the Youth Sports registration page.
Money Talk with Jo on July 20 from 10:00am-11:00am
Personal Professional Development is hosting Money Talk with Jo at The Hub, where there will be coffee, snacks, and a conversation of money! Finance subject matter expert Jo will be answering all questions you might have.

Visit the Miramar Station Library for a Back-to-School Resource Fair on Wednesday, August 17 from 4:00pm-6:00pm, where the Family Advocacy Program, Child and Youth Programs, Exceptional Family Member Program, School Liaison, Dietician, and Education Center will be present.
