Transition Readiness Program (TRP) provides our transitioning Marines and their families with the resources and tools needed to reach their personal goals and includes a standardized core curriculum.

Personal Readiness Seminar
Mandatory for all Marines assigned to their first permanent duty station within 90 days of checking-in. Provides an introduction to all Personal & Professional Development Programs, with emphasis on personal finance.

Transition Readiness Seminar (TRS)
The Transition Readiness Seminar (TRS) is mandated for all separating military personnel. Prior to the seminar, participants will meet with their Unit Transition Coordinator to complete the pre-work requirements and sign-up for the class. The seminar curriculum includes: VA Benefits, Department of Labor Employment Workshop, Reserve Opportunities and Obligations, Tricare benefits for retirees, Marine for Life, and Personal Financial Management.

The seminar also has three Pathway Workshops that are offered on a quarterly basis. A service member may choose additional career tracks to support his or her post service goals.

  • Accessing Higher Education
The Accessing Higher Education workshop is for those pursuing higher education and assists Service Members in identifying the education requirements that support their personal goals. This workshop focuses on topics such as how to achieve academic success, how to research and compare institutions, and how to finance higher education. After completing the Accessing Higher Education workshop, Service Members will be prepared to complete an application to an accredited institution, schedule a session with a counselor from an academic institution, and make informed decisions for funding college.
  • Boots 2 Business
An introduction to business ownership for transitioning Service Members facilitated by the Small Business Administration (SBA).
  • Career Technical Training
The 2-day workshop provides Service Members with guidance with selecting technical fields and technical training schools.

Spouse Transition and Readiness Seminar (S.T.A.R.S.)
S.T.A.R.S. is an informational workshop designed to provide spouses of retiring or separating Service Members the opportunity to gain valuable knowledge of resources and pressing information as it relates to the upcoming transition. A panel of subject matter experts regarding topics such as education and career programs, benefits and entitlements, and financial considerations, will be on hand to ensure that the transition from a military to a civilian lifestyle is as smooth as possible.  At present, this seminar is offered virtually in conjunction with MCCS Lejeune-New River.
